Let’s embark on a 9-day adventure that’ll take you from the bustling streets of Kolkata to the serene heights of Darjeeling and Sikkim. Get ready to immerse yourself in rich history, breathtaking landscapes, and warm hospitality!

Day 1: Arrive in Kolkata

As you step off the plane in Kolkata, the city’s energy will instantly captivate you. A friendly face will be waiting to whisk you away to your cozy hotel. Take the evening to relax and maybe enjoy a stroll around the neighborhood – the perfect way to get a feel for this vibrant city!

Day 2: Exploring Kolkata’s Treasures

Rise and shine! Today’s all about discovering Kolkata’s gems. We’ll kick things off at the India Museum – a treasure trove of history housed in a beautiful Italian-style building. Next up is the iconic Howrah Bridge – snap a photo of this Kolkata symbol!

The afternoon takes us to the magnificent Victoria Memorial. This white marble beauty is a sight to behold! We’ll wrap up the day at St Paul’s Cathedral, soaking in its peaceful atmosphere.

Day 3: Off to Darjeeling

Time to say goodbye to Kolkata and hello to the mountains! After a quick flight to Bagdogra, we’ll drive to Darjeeling. As we climb higher, you’ll feel the air getting cooler and crisper. The rest of the day is yours to explore – maybe grab a cup of that famous Darjeeling tea?

Day 4: Darjeeling Delights

Today’s all about experiencing the best of Darjeeling. We’ll start at Ghoom Monastery, home to a stunning statue of Maitreya Buddha. Next, we’ll visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute – prepare to be inspired by stories of brave climbers!

Our last stop is the Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre. Here, you’ll see skilled artisans creating beautiful carpets, woolen boots, and more. It’s a great place to pick up unique souvenirs and support the local community.

Day 5: Free Day in Darjeeling

Today’s your day to do as you please in Darjeeling! Why not take a ride on the famous toy train? Or visit a tea plantation to see how your morning cuppa is made? The choice is yours!

Day 6: A Day Trip to Kalimpong

We’re off to Kalimpong today! Our first stop is the Tharpa Choling Monastery, a peaceful haven of the Gelugpa sect. Then, we’ll visit some colorful flower nurseries – Kalimpong is famous for its orchids! In the evening, we’ll head back to Darjeeling, with plenty of beautiful memories (and maybe some flowers) in tow.

Day 7: Gangtok Bound

Today we’re heading to Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. After we arrive, we’ll visit Dodrul Chorten, a beautiful stupa, and Enchey Monastery, known for its Chinese-style architecture.

We’ll round off the day at the Research Institute of Tibetology and the Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom. Here, you can admire (and maybe buy) some exquisite carpets, blankets, and shawls made in traditional Lepcha style.

Day 8: Rumtek and Views

Our Gangtok adventure continues with a trip to Rumtek Monastery, the largest in Sikkim. It’s a hub for the Kagyu order of Tibetan Buddhism and filled with beautiful art and artifacts.

In the afternoon, we’ll head to Tashi viewpoint. Get your cameras ready – the views of Mt. Kanchenjunga and Mt. Siniolchu are simply breathtaking!

Day 9: Farewell to the East

It’s time to say goodbye to the mountains as we head back to Bagdogra and then fly to Kolkata. As your journey comes to an end, you’ll be left with memories of friendly faces, stunning landscapes, and the unique charm of East India.
