Day 1: Colombo – Negombo

Arrive in Colombo, where you’ll be greeted and transferred to your hotel in the coastal town of Negombo.

Day 2: Negombo

Begin the day with a guided tour of Colombo, visiting notable sites including the Fort, the former British military garrison, and Sea Street, the Goldsmith’s quarters, with its bustling Bazaar. Stop by a Hindu Temple known for its intricate stone carvings and the historical Dutch Church of Wolfendhal dating to 1749. Conclude the morning tour with a visit to Independence Square. In the afternoon, return to Negombo to explore its vibrant fishing village and local market.

Day 3: Negombo – Wilpattu – Anuradhapura

Today, depart for Anuradhapura, stopping en route at Wilpattu National Park for an exciting jeep safari. Wilpattu is famous for sightings of Sri Lankan leopards and sloth bears, and it also holds intriguing ancient ruins that show evidence of occupation by Prince Saliya, son of King Dutugemunu, over 2,000 years ago. Day 4: Anuradhapura – Jaffna

This morning, embark on a tour of Anuradhapura, an ancient kingdom and seat of power for Sri Lankan kings for over a thousand years. Known for its extensive remains, Anuradhapura is famous for its temples, reservoirs, and beautifully landscaped gardens, with many ruins still standing as testament to its grandeur. In the afternoon, travel northward to Jaffna, the cultural capital of the Tamil community, for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Jaffna

Delve into the unique culture and history of Jaffna with a full-day tour. Visit Jaffna Fort, originally built by the Portuguese and later fortified by the Dutch. Explore the revered Nallur Kovil Temple, the Jaffna Library, and the Jaffna Museum. Day 8: Habarana

Today, head to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, where you’ll see remarkable ruins and historic temples. Spend the afternoon on a thrilling jeep ride at Minneriya National Park, famous for its impressive gatherings of elephants during the dry season, providing a wonderful opportunity to observe these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.

Day 9: Habarana

Start your morning with a visit to the renowned Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site and iconic landmark of Sri Lanka. In the afternoon, savor a taste of authentic Ceylon tea at a local tea factory, surrounded by lush greenery. The rest of the day is at your leisure, with an option to explore the scenic village by bicycle.

Day 10: Habarana – Kandy

Depart for Kandy, stopping en route at a fragrant spice garden. Upon arrival in Kandy, take a city tour that includes Upper Lake Drive, Market Square, and the Arts & Crafts Centre. In the evening, enjoy a vibrant cultural dance performance that showcases traditional Sri Lankan music and dance.

Day 11: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

This morning, travel to the highland town of Nuwara Eliya, fondly known as “Little England.” En route, stop to explore the lush Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, a site originally established as a pleasure retreat for ancient kings. Nuwara Eliya is famous for its tea plantations, mist-covered mountains, and cool climate, and you’ll see clear evidence of British influence throughout the area.

Day 12: Nuwara Eliya

Embark on a sightseeing tour of Nuwara Eliya and its scenic surroundings. Visit a tea plantation and witness the traditional process of tea plucking, followed by a cup of freshly brewed Ceylon tea. Day 13: Nuwara Eliya – Yala
