Colombo – Anuradhapura – Habarana – Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa – Dambulla – Kandy – Colombo

Introduction

Immerse yourself in the cultural and historical treasures of Sri Lanka on this 6-day journey. From the modern vibrancy of Colombo to the ancient cities of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa, this tour explores over 2,500 years of heritage. Traverse through misty highlands renowned for Ceylon Tea, marvel at UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and discover the timeless traditions and monuments of this enchanting island.

Day 1: Arrive in Colombo

Arrive at Colombo Airport and transfer to your hotel. Relax or explore the city’s energetic streets and attractions at your leisure.

Day 2: Colombo – Anuradhapura – Habarana

Depart for Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s ancient capital, and explore its archaeological treasures, from stupas to the sacred Bodhi tree. After the tour, continue to Habarana for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Habarana – Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa – Habarana

Head to Sigiriya to climb the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, known as the Eighth Wonder of the World. Then, travel to Polonnaruwa, the 11th-century capital with ruins that tell the story of a vibrant medieval city. Return to Habarana for the night.

Day 4: Habarana – Dambulla – Kandy

Drive to Kandy, stopping en route at the Dambulla Cave Temple to admire intricate frescoes and statues in this UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Kandy, take an evening city tour, including visits to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Upper Lake Drive, Market Square, and the Arts & Crafts Centre.

Day 5: Kandy – Colombo

Return to Colombo, where you’ll enjoy a city tour of the highlights, including Cinnamon Gardens, the Fort area, Pettah’s Bazaar, and the historic Dutch Church of Wolfendhal. Visit the replica of the Avukana Buddha and Independence Square.

Day 6: Colombo – Departure

Transfer to Colombo Airport for your onward flight, or extend your stay in Sri Lanka or the Maldives with optional add-on tours.
